Position Summary
As a UM Nurse Consultant, you will utilize your clinical experience and skills to assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate healthcare services and benefits for our members. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive reviews of clinical information to determine coverage determinations and recommendations along the continuum of care
- Communicating with providers and other parties to facilitate care and treatment
- Identifying members for referral opportunities to integrate with other products, services, and programs
- Identifying opportunities to promote quality and effectiveness of healthcare services and benefit utilization
- Consulting and lending expertise to other internal and external constituents in the coordination and administration of utilization and benefit management functions
Key Responsibilities
As a UM Nurse Consultant, your key responsibilities will include:
- Utilizing clinical experience and skills in a collaborative process to assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate options to facilitate appropriate healthcare services/benefits for members
- Gathering clinical information and applying the appropriate clinical criteria/guideline, policy, procedure, and clinical judgment to render coverage determination/recommendation along the continuum of care
- Communicating with providers and other parties to facilitate care/treatment
- Identifying members for referral opportunities to integrate with other products, services, and/or programs
- Identifying opportunities to promote quality effectiveness of healthcare services and benefit utilization
- Consulting and lending expertise to other internal and external constituents in the coordination and administration of the utilization/benefit management function
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful as a UM Nurse Consultant, you will need:
Essential Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- 3+ years of clinical experience required
- Active current and unrestricted RN licensure in the state of residence
- 1+ years of clinical experience in an acute or post-acute setting
- Availability to work Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM in your resident time zone, with some weekends and holidays required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Managed Care experience preferred
- BSN degree preferred
Education and Skills
We are looking for candidates with:
- Associate's degree required; BSN degree preferred
- Proficiency with computer skills, including navigating multiple systems and keyboarding
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
