About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented engineer to work on complex projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the development of our network architecture. As a Sr Specialist OSP Design Engineer, you will be responsible for providing short- and long-term planning for access network technologies, including analysis, solution recommendations, and implementation of said strategy. Your expertise will be invaluable in driving our network evolution and ensuring that our customers receive the best possible service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recommends strategic network planning and network evolution policy decisions, both in and out of franchise, in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria.
- Evaluates network capacity/performance criteria and develops and implements strategies to accommodate network growth and change.
- Creates deliverables, Plans of Record, Forecasts, Serving Plans, Use Permits, Cost Estimates, Handoffs, Workprints, Utility Agreements, and other relevant documents.
- Provides technical leadership and mentorship to peers and new hires, demonstrating advanced knowledge of engineering principles, design tools, and databases.
- Works independently to complete complex engineering projects, resolving problems and making sound technical decisions.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in engineering principles, as well as excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. The following qualifications are preferred:

- Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 2-3 years of experience in a related field, with a focus on network design and engineering.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of engineering principles, design tools, and databases.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to lead and mentor others.

- Advanced degree in a related field (e.g., Master's or Ph.D.).
- 5+ years of experience in network design and engineering, with a focus on access network technologies.

- Experience with design tools, such as CAD or GIS, and databases, such as Oracle or SQL.
