About the Role
We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Substitute Teacher to join our team in Closter, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of schools and students, gaining valuable experience and making a positive impact on the education system. Our Substitute Teachers are an integral part of our team, and we are looking for someone who is dedicated, flexible, and passionate about education.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of subjects and grade levels, including elementary, middle, and high school
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the needs of diverse learners
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
- Be flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor
- A NJ Substitute Credential
- A background check and TB risk assessment (we will cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and a commitment to putting students first

Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with educational technology and software
