IMPACT Associate – Cybersecurity

The City of Victoria is seeking an IMPACT Associate in Cybersecurity to join their Cybersecurity team. In this role, you will support the team by reviewing cybersecurity posture, using cloud-based tools, assisting with security risk reports, and contributing to implementation plans for security enhancements. Responsibilities - Helping review the City’s current cybersecurity posture - Using cloud‑based security tools to help gather information about servers, workstations, and systems - Assisting with reports that identify security risks and recommend improvements - Supporting the development of implementation plans and working with the Manager to help carry out security enhancements - Collaborate closely and actively participate in feedback sessions with a supervisor to contribute to the continuous improvement of the organization's operations - Utilize tools and software platforms under the direct guidance of your supervisor - Participate actively in the development and enhancement of projects aligned with the department's strategic goals - Provide valuable field and/or office support to support the successful execution of assigned projects - Collaborate with team members to facilitate shared learning and contribute to the evaluation and implementation of innovative solutions - Maintain detailed records of your work process, including any challenges encountered and problem-solving approaches employed - Collaborate with colleagues from different departments or teams on cross-functional projects to gain a broader perspective and develop a well-rounded skill set supporting your knowledge and success in a municipal career - Attend and actively participate in educational activities that enhance your knowledge and skills, aligning with IMPACT program objectives and the department's needs Skills - Candidates must reside in Greater Victoria or surrounding areas - Eligible candidates must self-identify as one or several of the following: Racialized, Indigenous, Black / African Descent, Newcomer, immigrant, or refugee (living in Canada for under five years), 2SLGBTQIA+, Gender-diverse, Person with disabilities / disabled, Neuro-divergent - Individuals who are part of an equity-seeking and equity-deserving group that is not captured above are asked to include this in their application for consideration - Applicants will be required to demonstrate how participation in the program would contribute to their career goals, particularly in relation to employment in the public sector - Have language proficiency in English (equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 6) - IMPACT Initiative Associates require at least 6 months of fundamental knowledge and practical experience related to tasks and responsibilities similar to those outlined in the position or an equivalent combination of education and experience Benefits - 15% in lieu of benefits - Auxiliary status employees will be paid an additional 15% in lieu of vacation, holiday, sick leave beyond the statutory requirement, and other benefits, per the CUPE Local 50 Collective Agreement.
