A Day in the Life of a Principal Project Manager, Professional Services

As a Principal Project Manager, Professional Services, you will act as the accountable project lead internally and externally for various customer-facing projects within Healthcare and Medical Innovations. You will be responsible for driving the application of the Integrated Solution Delivery Model across projects to ensure successful organizational healthcare outcomes for implementations. Your breadth of project management, technical, and business knowledge will enable you to lead and influence project teams and stakeholders, drive best practices, foster communication internally and externally, and ensure high customer adoption or success of the solution.

Key Responsibilities

Accountable for the successful implementation of customer outcomes derived through the solution through effective organization and leadership, benefits management, stakeholder management, risk management and issue resolution, planning and control, change management, and quality management.
Own and manage the operational aspects of assigned projects and serve as a liaison between external clients, project management, internal project team, sales team, clinical product specialists, and line management.
Lead and direct one or more project teams engaged in various projects across regions, providing technical and analytical guidance and recommendations to leadership governance bodies.
Develop detailed project plans and meeting minutes/reporting to monitor and track progress of all facets of the project, including technical and clinical activities.
Measure project performance using appropriate tools and measurable outcomes, facilitating all technical and clinical workstreams with internal and external project teams.
Communicate appropriately to internal and external sponsors of any major impacts to the project and overall account health to key stakeholders, ensuring completion of all project activities and documents to be completed with documents stored in an approved repository.

Risk Mitigation and Issue Resolution

As a Principal Project Manager, Professional Services, you will consistently perform risk management on all aspects of the project to minimize issues and impacts to customer adoption. You will be responsible for effectively managing the constraints of project management, including scope, cost, schedule, and measurable outcomes, assessing project issues and developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

Operational Improvements

Keep current on advances and best practices in project management methodologies and contribute improvements to the maturity of project management practices for the services team.
Develop and manage all facets of the project(s) across enterprises from intake through implementation and closure in adherence to Implementation Services best practices and policies.
Ensure the project adheres to all Corporate and IT policies and standards of Medtronic and the customer.

Differentiating Factors

This role offers autonomy, with the opportunity to work independently under limited supervision to determine and develop an approach to solutions. You will coach and review the work of lower-level specialists and may manage projects or processes, contributing to the completion of work group objectives through building relationships and consensus to reach agreements on assignments.

Professional Requirements

Strong individual leadership skills, driven to be accountable and own the overall success of the project outcomes.
Up to 25-50% travel required, with Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or industry-relevant certification a plus.
Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of leadership, including C-Suite.
Ability to understand multiple facets of multiple projects while maintaining larger overall organizational goals and strategy, with solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will require a Bachelor's Degree, with an Advanced Degree preferred, and a minimum of 5 years of direct Healthcare IT or SaaS project management and implementation experience as a vendor or in any related management consulting function. A minimum of 3 years of experience in the IT, SaaS, or related industry is also required.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary and flexible benefits package, with a salary range of $119,200 - $178,800 per year. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
