Job Summary
As a Part-Time Nursing Instructor, your primary responsibilities will include providing active and effective learning experiences for students in various educational settings, including classrooms, labs, clinical, and online environments. You will act as a professional and academic role model, upholding Concorde's mission and core values, while demonstrating expertise in your field. This is a part-time position, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach classes as assigned, preparing lesson plans and course materials as required
- Objectively assess students for academic performance, providing regular and constructive feedback
- Effectively organize and present subject matter to students, utilizing instructional plans and learning management systems
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, setting an example for professionalism and conduct
- Proactively inform Program Directors of any student attendance, academic, or behavioral concerns
- Facilitate tutoring and makeup work as needed, ensuring student participation and progress
- Record keeping, scanning, and other related duties as required
Instructional Duties
- Instruct classes as assigned, preparing for classes by organizing and becoming familiar with student material
- Prepare lesson plans and course material as required, supplementing approved student material as needed
- Ensure security of assessment tools and confidential documentation, utilizing and monitoring learning management systems
- Effectively utilize instructional plans provided, ensuring classes are conducted for the required length of time
Student Interaction
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, setting an example for professionalism and conduct
- Provide regular and constructive feedback to students regarding academic performance, grades, professionalism, conduct, attendance, and other topics as necessary
- Proactively inform Program Directors of any student attendance, academic, or behavioral concerns for retention management
- Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance to ensure accuracy
Related Duties, Outside the Classroom
- Stay informed of current standards related to instructional methodology, participating in ongoing faculty and professional development activities
- Attend outside workshops and seminars to improve instructional and professional skills
- Assist with preparations for graduation ceremonies, attending graduation ceremonies as requested
- Participate in student and campus activities as requested, such as Lamplighter nominations, field trips, and community activities
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Current and active RN or LVN license in the state of California
- One of the following:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school
- Valid teaching credentials
- Completed minimum of one year full-time teaching in a state-accredited or approved RN or LVN program
- Meet community college or state university teaching requirements in California
- Minimum of 4 years clinical experience as an RN or LVN in the last 5 years
- Must meet all regulatory and corporate qualifications, with approval from the regulatory board
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience in a nursing program
- Experience with online learning platforms and instructional design
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
