This is a hybrid role based out of our Raleigh hub. As a Quality Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in Engineering , driving impact through improved quality, faster time to market and increased customer satisfaction . Reporting to Quality Engineering Manager , this role is perfect for someone who is energized by root cause analysis, process improvement, wants to learn about quality and is eager to grow with a fast-moving, industry-defining company. What You’ll Do Test Planning & Execution: Independently create and execute comprehensive test plans for both complex features and large-scale projects, accurately estimating effort and scope based on risk assessments. Sprint Planning & Design Collaboration: Actively participate in sprint planning and contribute to the design phase of software development, working closely with Product and Engineering to define clear acceptance criteria and ensure comprehensive test coverage. API Testing: Build and execute API test collections in Postman, parse API specifications, and define user-facing test cases. Manually verify API behavior and demonstrate understanding of mocking concepts. Review and clarify requirements for proposed API designs Database Testing: Write simple SQL queries to gather and validate data, covering various scenarios and edge cases. Ideal candidates will be able to conduct SQL migration testing, verify data integrity, review database schemas, and mentor other QEs on SQL and database concepts. CI/CD & Automation Collaboration: Utilize CI/CD systems to execute test pipelines, investigate failures, and identify issues related to test automation. Work with the SDET team to prioritize test cases for automation and provide necessary information. Troubleshooting & Infrastructure: Understand basic database concepts like schemas, tables, and primary/foreign keys. Understand and utilize basic AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker commands to monitor service health and investigate errors in test environments. Customer Advocacy & Bug Triage: Investigate feedback from Customer Success, reproduce issues, classifying bugs and feature requests then work with the product engineering team towards resolution. What We Look For 2+ years of experience in manual software testing, ideally in a SaaS environment. Proven ability to design and execute simple test plans and test cases independently. Experience with various testing methodologies, including black-box, grey-box, and exploratory testing. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, Agile environment. Ability to write simple SQL queries and understand database schemas. Introductory understanding of API testing and methodologies. Experience working with Product and Development to define clear acceptance criteria for front-end and back-end tickets. Nice to Haves: High level understanding of test automation concepts and CI/CD pipelines Understanding of data-driven testing. Basic knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker. Basic understanding of model evaluation and validation. Experience helping design features with Product and Design and ensure all user flows are considered. Bonus Points: Experience mentoring or leading junior quality engineers. Ability to write comprehensive test plans for large-scale epics. Experience working in a startup environment. Deep understanding of the construction industry or related domain. Experience with performance and load testing. Experience with security testing concepts.
