Operations & Compliance Specialist in Controlled States (Part-Time, Remote)

Reports To: Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Location: Remote Job Description: The Operations & Compliance Specialist in Controlled States will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of all operational and regulatory activities required to establish and maintain Go Wine’s presence in Controlled States markets. This individual will focus on compliance with local regulations, coordination of operational processes, and acting as a liaison between the company and key regulatory agencies. The role supports the CEO and the KAM team by laying the groundwork for successful commercial activities in these highly regulated environments. Scope of Markets Controlled States: • Distribution and Shops: Pennsylvania, Utah, New Hampshire. • Distribution: Mississippi, Wyoming, Montgomery County (MD), North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia. Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance: • Manage all licensing, product registration, and regulatory documentation required to operate in Controlled States. • Monitor and interpret state-specific regulations to ensure compliance in distribution, sales, and marketing activities. • Maintain strong relationships with state-controlled liquor authorities and other regulatory bodies. • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory audits and inspections. Operational Coordination: • Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure products are shipped and received in compliance with Controlled States’ requirements. • Oversee inventory tracking and reporting for products allocated to Controlled States. • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of documentation such as invoices, shipping manifests, and product compliance certifications. Strategic Support for Commercial Activities: • Establish GoWine as an approved supplier in Controlled States by completing all required documentation and meeting regulatory criteria. • Serve as the initial point of contact with state authorities to build strong relationships and facilitate smooth entry into new markets. • Provide the CEO and KAM team with the necessary operational and regulatory support to enable successful commercial closings. Reporting and Analysis: • Prepare and maintain detailed reports on compliance, inventory, and operational performance in Controlled States. • Monitor regulatory changes and assess their potential impact on Go Wine’s operations and strategy. • Generate actionable insights to improve efficiency and ensure sustained compliance. Required Skills and Competencies: Regulatory Expertise: Strong understanding of compliance requirements and regulatory frameworks in Controlled States or similar markets. Operational Knowledge: Familiarity with supply chain processes, inventory management, and documentation for highly regulated environments. Attention to Detail: Ability to handle complex documentation and ensure accuracy in compliance and operational tasks. Communication and Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to establish relationships with state authorities and internal teams. Problem Solving: Capable of identifying and addressing compliance or operational issues proactively. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Law, or a related field. • 3+ years of experience in compliance, operations, or regulatory affairs (experience in alcohol distribution is a plus). • Proficiency in regulatory documentation and operational processes. • Knowledge of Controlled States regulatory frameworks is highly desirable.
