About the position RK&K is currently seeking a Senior Project Planner to support our Florida team. This position will work with a variety of projects including transportation infrastructure, water resources, utilities, and site development. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to guide projects through Florida’s regulatory environment by managing current projects, leading project teams, and collaborating with regulatory agencies and clients. As an environmental planner at RK&K, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to conduct/support project development, environmental analysis/compliance, interagency coordination, and public outreach services for infrastructure projects, particularly for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Responsibilities • Supports coordination among engineers, design teams and a wide range of environmental disciplines (e.g., cultural resources, natural resources, community resources, air, noise, Section 4(f)/recreational resources, and hazardous materials) to develop alternatives, assess and minimize impacts, and support decision-making. • Performs NEPA and/or environmental compliance (environmental reviews) for public infrastructure projects by conducting research, tracking and organizing information, evaluating environmental impacts and alternatives, and preparing documents and technical reports. • Completes studies in compliance with NEPA, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, Section 4(f) of the US Department of Transportation Act, and other related state and federal regulations. • Coordinates with project clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders and elected officials. • Develops public involvement programs, outreach materials, and public comment responses. • Facilitates meetings and presentations with existing and potential clients. • Manage task deliverables and complete QA/QC reviews and procedures • Give presentations or complete interviews with clients • Regularly coordinate with clients by means such as regular progress meetings Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, Environmental Policy, Environmental or Biological Sciences, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field • 8 years of technical and management experience with environmental assessments, community impact assessments, environmental permitting / analysis, transportation project development, transportation planning, or community/urban planning • Previous experience working on projects that require compliance with State and/or Federal regulations • Client-facing experience with clients such as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), FDEP, USACE, USFWS, or Florida Power & Light (FPL) • Municipal Projects • Excellent verbal, technical writing, and computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office • Adept at research and problem-solving • Detail oriented, energetic, and highly reliable with a strong work ethic • Outstanding responsiveness to client and project needs Nice-to-haves • 15 years experience with environmental assessments, community impact assessments, environmental permitting / analysis, transportation project development, transportation planning, or community/urban planning • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Professional Engineer (PE), Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), or other credentials, or intended advancement toward credentials • Experience with the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) StateWide Environmental Project Tracker • Graduate degree in related field a plus • Experience or understanding of geographic information systems Benefits • Paid time off • Hybrid work (home and office) • Tuition reimbursement • Health, dental, vision, life and disability insurances • Paid parental leave • Wellness programs and employee resource groups • Career Development • Matching 401(k) plan • Paid Holidays • Much Much more!
