About The Role:
We are looking for a high-touch Sales Manager to spearhead our growth and commercial footprint in the Japan market. This role will act as the primary commercial lead, responsible for navigating the complex retail landscape to help enterprise retailers—such as 7/11, Family Mart, Lawson, and major drugstores—such as Matsumoto Kiyoshi understand how OmniShelf’s AI-driven platform solves critical operational challenges. This position will drive the full-cycle sales process from lead generation to closing, while working closely with the Sales Director and regional leadership to drive successful deal cycles and customer adoption in Japan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full-Cycle Business Development: Manage the complete sales process from lead generation to closing deals within the Japanese retail sector.
- Strategic Relationship Management: Build and maintain multiple touchpoints within target organizations, engaging with executives, operations, finance, and IT departments.
- High-Touch Enterprise Sales: Focus on securing partnerships with major retailer entities such as 7/11, Family Mart, Lawson, and drugstores - Matsumoto Kiyoshi.
- Data Resale Coordination: Create and leverage relationships with top CPG brands to secure commitments on data purchasing, using this as leverage to persuade retailers to adopt the OmniShelf platform.
- Consultative Selling: Apply a consultative approach to solve operational challenges for retailers, including planogram compliance, inventory visibility, and shelf optimization.
Requirements
Must Haves:
- Working Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in B2B software sales, business development, sales engineering, or technical sales roles, ideally within Retail Technology, AI Solutions, SaaS, or enterprise softwares.
- Prior experience working with FMCG/CPG brands or traditional retailers, with a solid grasp of retail operations such as planogram compliance, demand forecasting, pricing analysis, category management, merchandising, and POS systems.
- Sales Track Record: Proven experience in full-cycle sales with a "lead to close" mindset.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of the Japanese retail landscape, specifically convenience stores and pharmaceutical chains.
- Sales & Business Acumen:
- Proven ability to understand client business needs and link them to commercial opportunities.
- Works closely with respective country representatives and regional heads to develop and execute go-to-market strategies.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to create rapport with C-suite executives and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
- Language Proficiency: Native in Japanese and Full professional proficiency in English.
- Location Flexibility: Willingness to travel and work across regions to meet client and business needs within Japan (ideally in Tokyo).
