Mercer Advisors is a leading financial services firm dedicated to enhancing the financial lives of families across the U.S. The Seasonal Tax Preparer will support the tax preparation team by assisting with the preparation of federal and multi-state individual and trust income tax returns, utilizing tax software, and performing administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing federal and multi-state individuals and trust income tax returns
- Learn and effectively utilize Lacerte tax preparation software to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance the quality of service to clients
- Prepare and format excel spreadsheets for trust accounting
- Review documents and tax returns for accuracy
- Perform tax technical research assigned by supervisors
- Coordinate and communicate with tax advisors, managers, and other team members to perform job functions
- Administrative tasks (filing, phone calls, etc.)
- Other various assigned projects
Skills
- Degree in Accounting or related field
- Knowledge of tax laws and concepts
- Active PTIN
- Familiarity with Form 1040 and/or Form 1041
- Strong technical skills
- Attention to detail and ability to take initiative to meet deadlines
- Strong communications skills (written/verbal) and professionalism
- Ability to work independently and remain flexible as priorities change
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, detail-oriented
- Able to navigate a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude
- Experience with UltraTax software
- CPA or Enrolled Agent certification
