The University of Washington is a leader in education and research, and they are seeking Temporary Program Operations Specialists to support the HIPRC INSIGHT summer education program for high school students. This role involves managing the program, instructing high school interns, and performing administrative duties related to the program.
Responsibilities
- Instruct and supervise high school interns (75%)
- Administrative duties related to INSIGHT program (15%)
- Serve as liaison to faculty mentors working with INSIGHT program (10%)
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare management, business, social science programs, education or other related field
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience managing programs involving student learners, curriculum development, or educational programs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally in all forms of communications, e.g., verbal, and written, one-on-one and in groups
- Ability to contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint in particular)
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to move between a variety of tasks quickly and efficiently, and ability to independently prioritize workload
- Attentive to detail
- Flexible schedule to allow working occasional early mornings or late afternoons to assist with program events
- Must be able to quickly gain confidence of summer interns as well as faculty, mentors and sponsoring organizations
- MPH, MSW or MEd degree earned or in progress, with an understanding of public health research, outreach, and communications
- Experience teaching, supervising and/or counseling high school students or student interns
- Experience with a volunteer program, public health non-profit organization or NGO such as the Peace Corps
- Experience in public health
