On-Call Senior Field Environmental Compliance Professional

**This Opportunity** WSP is initiating a search for an On-Call Senior Field Environmental Compliance Inspector (Field-Based) to support the construction of a major transmission line project in eastern Oregon and southwestern Idaho. This role is a critical field-based position responsible for ensuring environmental compliance during active construction. The successful candidate will work closely with contractors, environmental inspectors, and project leadership to support the successful execution of the project in accordance with applicable environmental permits, plans, and regulations. As part of the established environmental project team, this position will play a key role in identifying, resolving, and documenting environmental compliance issues in a dynamic construction environment. • *Your Impact** As a Compliance Inspection Contractor (CIC), you will serve as an authorized field representative of the federal agencies (e.g., BLM and USFS) during construction of the project. You will provide independent, third-party oversight to verify that construction activities comply with Federal land use authorizations (ROW grants, easements, special use permits), the approved Plan of Development (POD), environmental mitigation measures and permit conditions, and all applicable federal laws and regulations. Primary responsibilities include construction compliance monitoring, providing environmental compliance oversight, non-compliance identification and documentation and the ability to work directly with construction personnel to resolve identified issues, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. This position will require the regular preparation of compliance reports, the ability to review and document field-level deviations from approved plans and comply with all site safety requirements and contractor safety plans. • *Who You Are** • *Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Ecology, Construction Management, or a related field; or have equivalent relevant field-based experience. + Seven (7) + years of demonstrated experience conducting environmental compliance inspection and monitoring on transmission lines or similar linear infrastructure projects. + Proven ability to work directly with contractor foremen, superintendents, and construction managers to resolve compliance issues in real time. + Experience working with federal and state land management and resource agencies (e.g., USFS, BLM). + Familiarity with NEPA, ESA, NHPA, and CWA requirements. + Strong field documentation and reporting skills and experience reviewing and performing QA/QC of daily field reports, environmental compliance logs, and corrective action documentation. + Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills for evaluating field conditions and recommending corrective actions. + Ability to support non-standard work schedules, including extended construction shifts (e.g., 10+ hours per day); position requires 100% travel and full-time field presence for the duration of the project. + Ability to work independently in remote environments + Established experience with biological field surveys and/or construction monitoring. + Demonstrated commitment to safety and ability to comply with WSP health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. • *Preferred Qualifications** + Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills in a field-based environment. + Erosion and sediment control certifications relevant to construction projects. + Advanced experience operating 4WD vehicles and/or UTVs in off-road conditions. + Basic mechanical knowledge applicable to field operations (e.g., flat tire repair, vehicle recovery, troubleshooting impaired vehicles). + Ability to safely navigate steep and rugged terrain in variable weather conditions. + Safety certifications such as OSHA 10 or equivalent. + Current First Aid / Adult CPR / AED certification. #LI-SR1 Apply Now Apply Now
