Job Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor - 3rd Shift will be responsible for supervising a team of maintenance professionals, ensuring the effective maintenance of equipment and facilities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a proactive mindset. As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will be an integral part of our maintenance team, working closely with the site EHS Manager to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and develop a team of maintenance professionals, including Leads and Mechanics, to ensure they are productive, completing assignments, and adhering to procedures and documentation requirements.
- Monitor and track work orders and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to maintain maximum efficiency of equipment and lines.
- Provide timely feedback, coaching, and mentoring to team members to help maintain or improve expected performance.
- Effectively and compassionately supervise and develop employees on a continual basis, resolving any employee issues and documenting disciplinary actions and superior performance recognition.
- Proactively supervise plant maintenance staff, responding to emergencies, and possessing good troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrate proficient computer skills, communicating across departments and shifts to determine the condition of operations and priorities.
- Enforce all safety rules, good manufacturing practices (GMPs), and company policies, continually monitoring and supervising forepersons and mechanics.
- Provide suggestions to improve processes, procedures, and department in support of bakery goals, identifying potential cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities.
- Provide a comprehensive shift handoff to oncoming shift and the maintenance management team, both orally and in writing, on a daily basis.
- Write corrective work orders as needed, when equipment repairs are identified, and follow-up on items to ensure corrective work orders are generated when it is not suitable to correct immediately.
- Foster and support a zero mindset for frontline maintenance teams in regard to team member safety risk, quality and food safety risk, and waste.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required, with additional education an asset.
- Experience: 5 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience in a food/beverage high-speed manufacturing environment ideal.
- Leadership Experience: 1-2 years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Safety Focus: Safety-focused, with experience working closely with the site EHS Manager.
- Technical Skills: Electrical and controls experience preferred, with a willingness to work alongside the team.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Physical Demands: Ability to be on feet all day and perform walking, stooping, and bending functions as required.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Good troubleshooting skills, with a proactive mindset and a willingness to bring solutions and ideas forward.
- Leadership Skills: Strong people leadership skill set, with a willingness to coach and mentor the team, and accountability for assigned work.
