About the Role Position: Tax Preparer (Part-Time with Path to Full-Time) Youwill be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of federal and California state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations (C-Corp and S-Corp), and possibly trusts and estates. This role requires a thorough command of current tax law, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field (required); Advanced degree or coursework in taxation is a plus but not required. Licensing & Credentials: • Active California Registered Tax Preparer (CRTP) registration with CTEC — required for non-CPA, non-attorney preparers • Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA license, or California Bar admission accepted in lieu of CRTP • Current Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) issued by the IRS (required) • Must satisfy applicable California continuing education (CE) requirements and maintain all credentials in good standing Experience: • Minimum 5–7 years of continuous, hands-on tax preparation experience • Demonstrated experience preparing complex individual (Form 1040), business (Forms 1065, 1120, 1120-S), trust (Form 1041), and gift (Form 709) returns • Working knowledge of California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) requirements, California state income tax, and applicable local taxes • Prior experience in a law firm, CPA firm, or tax advisory setting strongly preferred Skills: • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with attorneys, clients, and government agencies • Strong discretion, confidentiality, and ethical conduct. • Organized and deadline-driven.
