We are seeking a qualified intellectual property attorney or lawyer, licensed to practice in the United States and/or Canada, to conduct a thorough patent search and provide an expert opinion regarding potential patent protection on a specific product.
Objective:
Determine whether a product — its design, components, assembly method, and functionality — is already patented or patent-pending in the USA and Canada.
Responsibilities:
✔ Perform a comprehensive patent search in relevant patent offices (USPTO, CIPO, and equivalents).
✔ Review existing patents, published applications, and design patents to assess whether the product (and its assembly method) is:
- Already patented
- Patent-pending
Potentially infringing on existing patents
✔ Provide a summary report with references to any relevant patents or applications found.
✔ Explain risks, overlap, or freedom-to-operate concerns, if any.
✔ Advise on what (if anything) might be patentable about this product.
Required Qualifications:
✅ Law license and ability to practice in the United States and/or Canada.
✅ Proven experience with patent searches, patentability opinions, and freedom-to-operate / infringement risk analysis.
✅ Strong understanding of patent databases (USPTO, CIPO, WIPO, Google Patents, etc.).
✅ Excellent written and oral communication skills.
✅ IP / Patent law expertise preferred.
Deliverables:
A clear written report summarizing findings.
List of relevant patents and patent applications (with links or filing data).
Professional opinion on potential patent issues.
