Job Description:
• Analyzes complex data integrity tickets and executes appropriate chart correction processes utilizing expertise and experience to drive decision-making.
• Identifies and assigns correction tasks to appropriate clinical or IT teams.
• Follows tickets through to resolution to assure ticket completion and integrity of documentation maintained.
• Works with minimal supervision, guided by established policies and practices allowing for interpretation and discretion based on knowledge and experience.
• Reviews ticket and determines appropriate workflows and tools to be utilized.
• Applies appropriate chart correction tools based on workflows.
• Must be able to work with clinical providers (physicians, nurses, etc.) and department end users to resolve errors.
• Maintains required information for tracking through to resolution and updates tasks as directed.
• Communicates tasks and directions to clinical and non-clinical users, providing clear, concise instructions and timely responses.
• Must understand healthcare terminology, revenue cycle business processes, and user issues associated with hospital/clinic practice.
• Identifies trends and issues and is able to present and discuss with management.
• Applies critical thinking and problem solving skills to identify and determine appropriate course for correction process.
• Uses analytical skills to help identify and communicate possible prevention strategies based on data analysis.
• Escalates tickets to appropriate leadership based on patient care or financial impact.
• Must understand the flow or concept of errors and corrections from electronic to legacy and downstream systems.
• Guides amendment to medical record when a patient amendment request is received through the Privacy office.
• Participates in testing of new functionality related to EMR documentation.
• Must have knowledge of medical record content and management and have a good working knowledge of the EHR either through experience or education.
• Must have a working knowledge of pc systems, including knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Visio.
Requirements:
• Associate's degree in Health Information or Medical Record Technology required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of four years' experience in a multi-facility Health Information Management (HIM) or similar healthcare setting.
• A minimum of three or more years working with coding, chart analysis, or release of information or similar background preferred.
• Previous experience with Sanford One Chart or Epic required and previous experience working with the hybrid medical record extremely important.
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required; Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
• New graduates eligible for certification must complete the certification examination at the earliest testing dates following employment, and all subsequent dates thereafter until the exam is satisfactorily completed.
