The role involves creating art for a variety of children's products, including toys and activity books, while collaborating with the design team to ensure brand consistency and innovative design solutions.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and design engaging and educational content for a wide range of children's products, including toys, puzzles, activity books, and pretend play sets
- Layout designs quickly to present to and get approval from the management team
- Create original illustrations in a variety of styles that are consistent with the Melissa Doug brand
- Collaborate with the Design Director and other team members from concept to final production
- Prepare and deliver accurate design files and specifications for manufacturing, considering cost and ergonomic factors
- Create rough drafts and mock-ups to effectively communicate design ideas and concepts
- Ensure that all designs align with our brand guidelines and maintain a consistent look and feel across all products
- Stay current with design trends and bring innovative ideas to the team
Skills
- Experience in graphic design or illustration, preferably in the children's product or toy industry
- Superb layout and design skills, with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Excellent drawing and illustration skills, with the ability to work in various styles
- Proficiency in vector-based illustrations and understanding of printing processes
- A solid understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, and layout
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- The ability to execute under tight deadlines is a key
- A strong portfolio showcasing your design and illustration skills
