As our Fractional Staff Accountant, you are a vital member of our rope team, ensuring the financial "Oxygen" of the company is monitored with absolute precision.
The Seat: Core Roles
Success in this position is defined by your ability to master these five core areas of responsibility:
The Mirror of Truth (Reporting): Delivering high-visibility executive reports (Cash & Accrual) to the CEO to provide a clear view of the financial terrain.
The Revenue Engine (Sync Management): Mastering the integrated workflow between Harvest, Xero, and GoCardless for frictionless billing and payment.
Summit-Ready Bookkeeping: Weekly reconciliation and ledger maintenance to ensure 100% data purity and real-time accuracy.
Profit-Sharing Integrity: Maintaining rigorous accrual-based records to power our internal monthly profit-sharing program for the team.
The External Liaison: Serving as the primary point of contact between internal operations and our external CPA, Tax Preparer, and Financial Planning partners.
Operations & Platform Management
Financial Stewardship
Weekly Bookkeeping: Reconcile all transactions in Xero to ensure the CEO has a clear view of our coordinates at all times.
Invoicing & ACH: Manage client billing through Harvest. Because we are a fractional services firm, we operate on a simple retainer model with upfront ACH; you will ensure the GoCardless integration is functioning perfectly. We do not maintain an Accounts Receivable (AR) function—payment must be secured before work begins.
Dual-Method Accounting: Maintain Accrual books for our internal monthly profit-sharing calculations and Cash books for annual tax filing and compliance.
Peer Collaboration: Work closely with the EmmerScale People Lead to ensure payroll and benefits (processed via Rippling) are accurately reflected in the general ledger.
Strategic Reporting
Provide a monthly financial pulse report to the CEO highlighting margins, cash flow, and labor rate of return.
Prepare end-of-year documentation for external partners to ensure a frictionless tax filing process.
Proactively identify "Oxygen Leaks" (unnecessary expenses) and suggest process improvements to protect company health.
Requirements & Tech Stack
Industry Expertise: Proven experience working within Professional Services industries, specifically Management Consulting, Legal, or Financial Services firms. You must understand the nuances of fractional service models, time-tracking, and retainer-based margins.
Multi -Entity Experience working within the Franchising or Multi-Entity experience is a huge plus. Proficiency in franchise-specific accounting and reporting will open the door for high-impact client service work and expanded income opportunities.
Expert Level: Xero and Google Workspace (specifically advanced Sheets).
Proficient: Harvest, GoCardless, and Slack.
Familiarity: Rippling is a significant plus.
Experience: Mid-level accounting experience (3-5 years) with a deep understanding of accrual vs. cash-based accounting.

Compensation & Culture
Commensurate with experience - Contractor position.
Time Commitment: Approximately 5–10 hours per month. (Our current books require less than 5 hours; we are budgeting extra time for enhanced reporting and growth).
Family Treatment: At EmmerScale, our fractional contractors are treated as core team members. You are part of our internal rhythms and are eligible for our monthly profit-sharing program based on company performance.
Growth Opportunity: For the right partner, there is a clear path to provide fractional accounting services directly to EmmerScale clients, offering a significant additional income stream as we scale brands together.
