About the Role

As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to work on your own schedule while making a positive impact on students' lives. Our substitutes are the backbone of our organization, and we're committed to providing you with the tools and support you need to excel in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, as needed
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and parents
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience
• Special education or paraprofessional experience
• Experience working with diverse student populations
• Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching and classroom management strategies
