Job Summary
The Lead Program Assistant will work closely with YFSB mental health counselors to provide case management, life skills training, restorative justice, gang prevention workshops, and other services to support the needs of local youth and families. Key Responsibilities
- Represent the program to the public through public service announcements, classes, workshops, events, and presentations
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for implementing various education, community, and volunteer programs to assist youth
- Work with supervisors to identify community needs and opportunities and design programs to fill those needs and achieve identified program outcomes
- Maintain systems for tracking activities and performance measures
- Provide case management and life skills training to support the needs of local youth and families
- Collaborate with mental health counselors and other stakeholders to deliver restorative justice and gang prevention workshops
- Develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with community groups, organizations, co-workers, City departments, and the public
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates must possess a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Experience: Two (2) years of experience equivalent to the Library Program Assistant or two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in case management, education/tutoring program coordination, customer service, project management, or a similar field
- Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Counseling, Education, or a closely related field
- License: Possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience living or working in Hayward and/or Alameda County
- Bilingual skills
- Knowledge of principles and practices of case management, customer service, and community engagement
- Experience with program planning, development, and implementation
- Familiarity with community and local government services, agencies, and resources

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
