About the Role
We are seeking an experienced E-Learning Instructional Designer to join our team and contribute to the development of engaging training content for our public safety and justice solutions. As an E-Learning Instructional Designer, you will play a critical role in creating eLearning content that supports our products and helps to enhance the speed and efficiency of records management, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and internal processes. Your work will have a direct impact on ensuring the safety of police officers, expediting the justice system, and providing real-time information for better incident response.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with subject matter experts to clearly define learning objectives and content required for our e-learning curriculum
- Collaborate with the team in the eLearning creation process, including discovery, scripting, storyboarding, recording, editing, and publishing content
- Stay up-to-date with product updates and update content as our products evolve to ensure that our training content remains relevant and effective
- Continuously look for ways to create content more efficiently without compromising quality, leveraging your expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles
- Understand customer needs and the value of our products to ensure that all training content supports our mission and meets the needs of our customers
- Work closely with Axon Academy to ensure that our eLearning content adheres to design themes and best practices, providing a consistent experience for our customers
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field, such as instructional design, education, or communications
- At least 2+ years of experience in eLearning development, with a proven track record of creating engaging and effective training content
- Previous experience in training or education, with a strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
- Experience using Articulate, SmartSheet, Quip, Slack, Camtasia, and other business tools, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and software applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner effectively with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and team members
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration, adaptability, and problem-solving
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working with public safety customers or in a related field, with a strong understanding of the needs and challenges of our customers
- Occasional travel may be required, up to 2-3 days per quarter, to collaborate with team members, attend conferences, or participate in training events
- Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background check and maintain confidential and highly sensitive information, with a strong commitment to data security and integrity
