About the Position: Air Booking Coordinator
The Air Booking Coordinator is a critical role within our Travel Services team, responsible for coordinating air travel arrangements for both domestic and international participants traveling to various program destinations. This position requires a strong focus on customer service, as the coordinator will engage with participants to understand their travel needs, resolve any issues, and finalize air travel arrangements. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of customer service, sales, and technical skills, with a proven track record in the air travel industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Sell a variety of travel options, including domestic air, international, negotiated, and block space air, to meet the diverse needs of our participants.
- Qualify calls and provide the best schedules and pricing for customers to enable first-call resolution, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
- Manage inbound and outbound participant calls, creating preliminary itineraries for all TCA enrollments and handling airline schedule changes following each airline's guidelines.
- Resolve flight changes during world events, weather, or airline strikes, and assist participants on our Emergency Line as needed to resolve situations.
- Promote additional services for custom air participants, hotel, and upgrades, educating participants on the benefits of our competitive upgrade offers.
- Match and fulfill customer needs, utilizing effective closing skills, solid judgment, and understanding of company/airline policy to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
- Make sound business decisions based on situational events, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Foster relationships with Road Scholar participants through active listening and engagement, ensuring a positive and personalized experience.
- Navigate various computer applications, use search engine skills, and toggle between applications while on the phone, demonstrating technical proficiency and adaptability.
- Satisfy or exceed Travel Services performance standards in accordance with goals, objectives, and metrics, driving results and contributing to the team's success.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree or comparable experience, providing a solid foundation in customer service, sales, or a related field.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, persuasion, and closing skills, with the ability to effectively engage with participants and drive sales.
- 1-2 years' experience in air travel, preferably in a customer-facing role, with a strong understanding of airline policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated sales and customer service skills, including negotiation and closing capabilities, with a proven track record of delivering results.
- Solid knowledge of airline negotiated fares and the ability to navigate various computer applications, including CRM systems and airline GDS systems.
- A results-driven, enthusiastic, and motivated attitude, with a strong work ethic and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience with Amadeus or other airline GDS systems, demonstrating technical proficiency and a deeper understanding of the air travel industry.
- Previous experience in a remote work environment, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a distributed team.
