About Emory University and the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health
The Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health is part of the prestigious Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, recognized nationally for its leadership in public health education and research. Our department is at the forefront of environmental health science, with a strong focus on research areas such as climate change, environmental justice, environmental epidemiology, planetary health/one health, environmental -omics, implementation science, policy and communication, and data science applications.
With over 40 faculty members, including primary, joint, and adjunct appointments, our department offers a rich environment for interdisciplinary collaboration. Our faculty have achieved significant recognition for their research programs in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), climate change, environmental epidemiology, toxicology, exposure science, risk analysis, infectious diseases, and environmental -omics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-impact research in environmental health, focusing on areas such as climate change, environmental justice, environmental epidemiology, planetary health, and data science applications.
- Teach and mentor graduate students in environmental health programs, contributing to the education of the next generation of professionals.
- Secure external funding for research projects, through grants, contracts, and other funding sources.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration within the department, the Rollins School of Public Health, and with external partners such as the CDC and Georgia Tech.
- Contribute to departmental and university service, including committee work and administrative roles.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Dr.P.H.) in environmental health, epidemiology, or a related field.
- Experience in environmental health research, with a strong record of scholarship.
- For senior positions (Associate or Full Professor), a demonstrated ability to secure external funding and an established, high-impact research program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research experience in areas such as climate change, environmental justice, environmental epidemiology, planetary health, and data science applications.
- Teaching experience, with a passion for education and mentorship.
- Experience in securing external funding for research projects.
- Strong publication record, with research published in peer-reviewed journals.
