Why Join arenaflex?
arenaflex is a global leader in innovative technology solutions, delivering cutting‑edge products and services that empower millions of users worldwide. As part of the fast‑growing data ecosystem, arenaflex’s mission is to transform raw information into actionable insights that drive exceptional customer experiences. Our commitment to inclusivity, continuous learning, and a collaborative culture makes arenaflex the ideal place for ambitious professionals eager to launch a rewarding career in data engineering.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Entry‑Level Remote Data Engineer to join arenaflex’s Data Distribution Center team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines that power critical business applications across multiple domains—including subscriptions, finance, product development, inventory, marketing, and customer support. Working closely with software development architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders, you will translate complex data requirements into reliable, high‑performance ingestion and transformation solutions using both on‑premise AWS services and internal arenaflex tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirement Gathering & Collaboration: Partner with business owners from verticals such as Subscriptions, Finance, Product, Inventory, Marketing, and Customer Service to understand data needs, define ingestion criteria, and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
- Pipeline Design & Development: Build new data ingestion workflows using a blend of on‑premise AWS services (e.g., Redshift, S3, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda) and arenaflex‑specific platforms. Emphasize modularity, reusability, and adherence to best practices.
- Maintenance & Optimization: Continuously monitor, tune, and enhance existing pipelines to meet evolving performance standards, data quality metrics, and compliance requirements.
- Tooling & System Management: Develop and maintain internal tools and dashboards that enable both arenaflex teams and external partners to manage data assets effectively.
- Code Review & Governance: Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce ETL best practices, and champion data cleanliness initiatives across the engineering community.
- Rapid Learning & Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, data architectures, and industry trends. Proactively incorporate new patterns and tools that enhance pipeline efficiency and reliability.
A Typical Day at arenaflex
Imagine starting your morning with a quick sync meeting, where you gather insights from a product design lead about upcoming feature launches. You then dive into the design of a new ingestion pipeline that pulls raw click‑stream data from arenaflex’s mobile applications into a curated Redshift warehouse. After writing and testing Python scripts, you deploy the workflow using AWS Lambda, monitor its execution, and validate data quality with SQL checks. In the afternoon, you participate in a code‑review session, providing constructive feedback to peers and learning new optimization techniques. The day ends with documenting your pipeline architecture in Confluence, ensuring future engineers can seamlessly extend your work.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in data engineering or data integration roles.
- Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts, including performance tuning and query optimization.
- Demonstrated experience building ETL pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data governance principles.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Experience with AWS services such as Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM.
- Programming expertise in Python, Java, Scala, or Node.js for data transformation and automation.
- Familiarity with non‑relational data stores (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, object storage, or key‑value stores).
- Knowledge of modern data streaming concepts and real‑time analytics.
- Exposure to machine‑learning pipelines, model serving, or AI‑driven data workflows.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business questions into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—to articulate complex ideas to cross‑functional teams.
Core Skills & Competencies for Success
- Problem‑Solving: Ability to dissect ambiguous requirements and construct clear, efficient data solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Commitment to data accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Collaboration: Comfortable working in distributed, remote teams and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Quick to learn new tools, languages, and frameworks as business needs evolve.
- Ownership: Proactive mindset to take end‑to‑end responsibility for pipeline reliability and performance.
