The Saturday School for Newcomers is a pioneering educational initiative dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for newcomers. We are seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic Coordinator to join our team on a remote basis. As a Coordinator for our Saturday School Program, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our educational programs, supporting teachers, and fostering a positive experience for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program Coordination: Oversee the implementation of the Reading and Math Programs, ensuring that all aspects of the programs run smoothly and efficiently.
• Facility Management: Open and close the building for each session, ensuring that the facility is ready for students and secure at all times.
• Supervision and Support: Supervise every aspect of the programs, providing support to teachers and staff as needed.
• Attendance Monitoring: Monitor student attendance, identifying any patterns or issues that may need to be addressed.
• Problem-Solving and Initiative: Demonstrate initiative in recognizing and resolving issues, concerns, or problems that may arise during the program.
• Classroom Visits: Conduct regular classroom visits to ensure that the curriculum is being implemented effectively.
• Professional Representation: Represent the organization in a professional and supportive manner, fostering positive relationships with students, teachers, and the broader community.
• Record-Keeping and Reporting: Complete and maintain all required records, ensuring that accurate and up-to-date information is available.
• Material Distribution and Inventory: Distribute materials needed for instruction, provide professional development on programs, and conduct an inventory of supplies and materials.
• Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the program.

Requirements and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:

• Educational Background: A valid Illinois Administrative Certificate Type 75 is required. Bilingual certification and/or ESL endorsement are preferred.
• Experience: Experience working in an educational setting, preferably with elementary or high school students, is highly desirable.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with students, teachers, and the broader community.
• Leadership and Teamwork: Proven ability to work as a team leader, with strong problem-solving and creative skills.
• Organizational and Time Management: Highly organized, with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

What We Offer:

As a Coordinator for our Saturday School Program, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students. We offer a competitive salary of $40 per hour, with a commitment of 5.5 hours per session, 2 days a week. Our program runs from October 3, 2023, to May 9, 2024, with the possibility of extension.
