We offer the right candidate a team-oriented, caring environment, which is client-focused, flexible, and always striving to provide high-quality service to our clients About the Role We are seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant to join our California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)/National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Group. This role is primarily focused on environmental document writing and is ideal for someone who enjoys producing thoughtful, well-written, and defensible CEQA/NEPA documents while working closely with a supportive team. This is a remote, on-call position well suited for professionals seeking flexibility while contributing to meaningful environmental review projects throughout California. The successful candidate will be comfortable stepping into active projects and contributing quickly to document preparation efforts. While the primary responsibility is writing, the role may also involve supporting various stages of the CEQA process—such as scoping, coordination, and schedule support—and participating in quality control reviews to ensure deliverables meet high professional standards. Key Responsibilities • Prepare high-quality environmental documentation in compliance with CEQA and NEPA. • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and agency staff to support accurate, clear, and timely project deliverables. • Contribute to proposal development efforts, including technical writing, scope support, and coordination with project managers, as needed. • Provide flexible project support across the CEQA process, assisting with document production, reviews, and related tasks as project needs evolve. • Work independently and efficiently in a remote setting while managing multiple assignments and meeting project deadlines. • Maintain a solid working knowledge of CEQA processes, procedures, and applicable legislative and regulatory updates. Skills & Qualifications • Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Planning, or a related field with at least five (5) years of professional experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with seven (7) years of relevant experience. • Demonstrated, working knowledge of CEQA (required) and NEPA (preferred). • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clear, well-organized technical writing. • Experience developing and managing scopes, schedules, and budgets for environmental review projects. • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to producing high-quality, defensible work. • Ability to work independently with minimal direction in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, remote environment. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with agency coordination and public review processes. • Familiarity with California public agency procedures and environmental permitting.
