BRIDGE PRACTICE

What We're Looking For
Michael Baker International is seeking a full-time, BIM Specialist I to join the team in our Moon Township, PA office. Please note: sponsorship is not available for this position.
Under general direction, independently applies technical judgment to develop, analyze, and finalize design drawings and Building Information Models (BIM) for bridges and other transportation structures, including culverts and retaining walls. The position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in evaluating design criteria, resolving technical issues, selecting appropriate modeling approaches, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Responsibilities also include the preparation and coordination of complex layouts, maps, and charts using advanced two‑ and three‑dimensional computer‑aided design and modeling technologies.
What You'll Do
• Independently develops and produces design drawings and Building Information Models (BIM) for transportation structures by interpreting engineering concepts, design intent, and established criteria.
• Evaluates and verifies dimensions, material selection, constructability, and the relationships among structural components to ensure technical accuracy and overall design integrity.
• Applies advanced knowledge of engineering principles, mathematics, building materials, and physical sciences to analyze design requirements and produce technically sound drawings and BIM models.
• Exercises professional judgment to modify, refine, and optimize drawings and BIM models to address design challenges, coordination issues, and evolving project requirements.
• Analyzes complex design components to assess functional relationships and integration within the overall structure or project.
• Identifies design conflicts, deficiencies, or constructability concerns and formulates viable technical solutions or recommendations for resolution.
• Plans and prioritizes work activities using independent judgment to meet project schedules and deliverables.
• Collaborates with engineers and multidisciplinary teams, exercising judgment in resolving coordination issues and obtaining and integrating technical information necessary to advance project objectives.
• Performs other professional and technical duties consistent with the scope and level of responsibility of the position.

What You Need To Succeed
• Two-year degree, graduate of a Technical School with appropriate experience or; Four-year bachelor degree with appropriate experience
• 6-10 years related experience with a two-year degree or; 0-3 years related experience with a four-year degree
• Proficiency in MicroStation and Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of transportation structures is a plus
• Knowledge of Open Roads/Open Bridge Designer/Open Bridge Modeler is a plus
• Knowledge of Autodesk Revit is a plus
• Knowledge of reinforcing bar detailing is a plus
Compensation
The approximate compensation range for this position is $62,267 to $89,898 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
