THE OPPORTUNITY: Sephora Internships provide an inclusive and comprehensive experience that equips young professionals with the tools needed to align their passions with work. The 10-week internship program develops early career professionals by providing interns with hands-on learning, personal and professional networking opportunities, and the ability to work on projects that directly impact the business. The Sephora internship program is also a prerequisite for consideration for LEAP, the cross-functional rotational program that provides on-the-job training in each of three Business Units-Supply Chain, Marketing, and Merchandising, over the course of nine months. LEAP prepares successfully performing trainees for a full-time, entry-level role in one of the three Business Units. Interns are invited to apply to LEAP at the beginning of the summer internship. PROGRAM DETAILS: An inclusive and engaging experience that develops technical and professional skills through weekly virtual workshops, networking opportunities, and career panels that provide exposure to Sephora’s career growth opportunities. 2025 PROGRAM DATES: • June 1 - August 14, 2026 • Working hours: 36hrs/week. Monday – Friday, PST • June 15 – 19, 2026: On-Site Week in San Francisco at headquarters office • June 29 – July 3, 2026: Week off for Summer Shutdown YOUR ROLE AT SEPHORA... We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer Intern with a deep understanding of AI techniques, including Generative AI and Agentic systems. As a Machine Learning Engineer Intern, you will participate in advanced modeling and GenAI projects, drive innovation through cutting-edge AI solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver working applications. This role presents an exciting opportunity to shape our data-driven strategies and contribute to developing state-of-the-art solutions. Responsibilities: • Participate in the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex business challenges. • Apply expertise in Generative AI to develop and fine tune models, contribute to synthetic data generation and data augmentation efforts, and engineer GenAI agents using both commercial and open source LLMs. • Collaborate closely with domain experts, software engineers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable AI solutions. • Conduct exploratory data analysis, data preprocessing, and feature engineering to ensure high-quality input for modeling. • Stay at the forefront of AI research, experimenting with emerging techniques and staying informed about the latest advancements in the field. • Communicate findings, insights, and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences through clear visualizations and presentations. • Contribute to developing and maintaining a robust machine learning infrastructure and best practices within the organization. We're excited about you if you have: • Completion or in progress to attain a degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field. • Experience in data science, machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI systems. • Proficiency in writing and testing Python object-oriented code with hands-on experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks. • Strong understanding of deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and hands-on experience in implementing complex AI models. • Passion for the scientific process with knowledge and experience in AI system design, measurement, and testing techniques • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to approach complex challenges creatively. • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Exposure to cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed computing is a plus. • Strong knowledge of SQL and unstructured data processing a plus. • Passion for staying updated with industry trends and sharing knowledge within the team. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: • Graduating in 2026 or 2027 (undergraduate or graduate degree) • Remote program – work schedule must align with Pacific Standard Time • Must permanently reside and work in the U.S. • Must be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area upon graduation for consideration for full-time hybrid positions * • Available from June 1 - August 14, 2026 • Available for the 1-week On-Site office experience in San Francisco, CA The target hourly pay for this position is $25.00 - $25.00 per hour.
