Education - Interpretation and Teaching Strategies

The Whitney Museum seeks a Spring 2026 Education - Interpretation and Teaching Strategies intern to assist with developing educational content and visitor engagement. Your Role Here’s what you will be doing: • Help prepare and produce exhibition content for multimedia guides and extended object labels • Assist with research for special exhibitions, collection rotations, and visitor engagement strategies • Support audio and video content production, including arranging and producing artist interviews • Maintain and update the educator website and communicate with affiliate staff • Prepare and archive research files, recordings, transcriptions, and digital content assets • Coordinate schedules for tours and in-gallery visitor engagement programs across platforms • Attend and support in-person and virtual enrichment programs and special events for educators • Observe tours and programs, providing feedback and evaluation to docents, educators, and teaching fellows • Gather and record attendance statistics for tours, education programs, and interpretive material usage • Assist with production of the updated Docent Program Manual About You The company is looking for: • Strong writing skills and interest in research and learning • Some background in art history • Interest in museum education and educational pedagogy • Attention to detail • Familiarity with WordPress or similar platforms, Excel, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite is ideal Compensation & Benefits • Paid stipend of $3000 • Generous support provided by Julie and Doug Ostrover for Ostrover Family Academic Year Interns Training & Development • Learn how to produce interpretive materials, guides, and other education content for a museum • Gain insight into museum education and a range of educational pedagogy • Experience training and evaluation, including observing and giving feedback • Develop research, writing, archiving, and digital skills How to Apply Submit a cover letter detailing your interest in the arts and culture space and what you hope to bring to this role.
